On Wednesday 7th June Johnny McCord and Joe Walker embarked on their 5 day ride from London to Paris.  The challenge saw them cycle the distance of 347 miles and climb 13,670 feet!  The weather was very hot and the days were long but they did it!

Johnny is the son of our founder and chair Mimi McCord.  Sadly, Johnny lost his father, Michael, to oesophageal cancer 21 years ago, when he was just a teenager.  To raise awareness, funds and in his father's memory, Loadsure  founder and CEO Johnny, was keen to mark the charities 20th year as he knows first hand how hard his mother has worked to raise awareness of the dangers of persistent heartburn.  So, with fellow cycling enthusiast and Loadsure's EVP of Marketing, Joe, they choose the iconic London to Paris cycle with Discover Adventure

Discover Adventure are experts in organising these trips and they take the stress out of the planning.  The first day started early and took them out of London winding through the Kent countryside and on to Dover, to catch a ferry to Dunkirk and onto French soil.  On Day 2 they headed south from Dunkirk to Cambrai, where they cycled a distance of 104 miles.  Day 3 took them on the very hilly 73 mile section of the journey to Soissons.  The final day of cycling on day 4 covered a distance of 84 miles, the busy Champs-Elysees and to the end goal - the Eiffel Tower!

Here's a synopsis of the challenge from Discover Adventure

Cycling from London to Paris is one of the great cycle experiences in Europe.  Passing through picturesque Kent countryside, we cross the Channel and continue through the small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France.  With long days in the saddle and some strenuous hill-climbs, the sight of the Eiffel Tower, our finishing point, will evoke a real sense of achievement.

Johnny and Joe we thank you for all your peddling in the intense heat and for raising an awesome amount for Heartburn Cancer UK.
