To mark Oesophageal Cancer Awareness month, we’re delighted to have the opportunity – through our incredible partnership with The Lanesborough, the prestigious 5-star luxury hotel in London - to offer people the chance of a FREE heartburn health check in February 2024.

With the support of The Cleveland Clinic, and leading Healthcare innovation company, Cyted, the test will be carried out by a healthcare professional in our HCUK Mobile Diagnostic Unit which will be located at The Lanesborough Hotel, near Hyde Park in London.

The number of tests is limited, and people with the most clinical need will be prioritised, but – if you suffer from persistent heartburn – please apply to see if you’re eligible.

We’re especially interested in hearing from you if you:

  • Are aged 40 or over.
  • Have had persistent or regular heartburn for three weeks or more, and
  • Normally treat this with over-the-counter or off-the-shelf medicines such as Rennie or Gaviscon.
  • Haven't had an endoscopy in the last 5 years.

The simple pill-on-a-string test is aimed at picking up issues such as early-stage oesophageal cancer and Barrett’s oesophagus, an often silent pre-cancerous condition, which can then be monitored to make sure it doesn’t turn into cancer.  You can see how the test is performed below.

The test gives people peace of mind that their persistent heartburn isn’t anything to worry about or that a referral will be arranged if further investigation is needed.  If there is an underlying problem, the sooner it’s found, the better the chances of more simple less invasive treatment.

To register your interest in the Heartburn Health Test and, to receive the triage form at some point in early to mid December, please complete this contact form.

If you are worried about your persistent heartburn symptoms in the meantime please contact your GP.
