Alistair Cheyne OBE Alistair Cheyne OBE We are very sad to report the death of Alistair Cheyne OBE, trustee of Heartburn Cancer UK. Alistair died on the morning of Friday 8th May after his own long and determined battle with cancer. Alistair was officially made a trustee in May 2016 and brought a wealth of experience to HCUK on business, leadership, operations and a knowledge of the charitable sector. He had a long and successful career with The Automobile Association where he started as an office boy and worked his way up to deputy Managing Director. He had also been chairman of the Institute of Advanced Motoring. Alistair was passionate in his efforts to grow our charity and create awareness of the dangers of persistent heartburn and support sufferers of Barrett’s oesophagus and oesophageal cancer. Alistair gave his time and energy very generously to his chosen charities and HCUK were very fortunate to be able to take advantage of that. If there was one message that Alistair would want to leave us with, it would be ‘Be aware of your body and get symptoms checked out with your doctor – earlier diagnosis really does help save lives!’ We will miss him very much and our sincere sympathies go to his wife and soulmate Dorothy.
