We are absolutely delighted to have been selected as charity of choice by the staff at the Lanesborough Hotel, London.

The team here have been personally affected by gastro-oesophageal cancer in recent times, very sadly losing two members of their team to the disease, as well as Dean, the beloved husband of another member of staff, all of whom were under the age of 53 and taken way before their time.

Following Dean's tragic death, aged only 49, his wife, Jo, made contact with Heartburn Cancer UK and, along with her colleagues, has been inspired to support our work to raise awareness of the early symptoms of both oesophageal cancer and Barrett's oesophagus, to increase early diagnosis and improve the prognosis for those who are diagnosed.

Over the festive period, staff at The Lanesborough are traditionally given a gift by their employer.  This year, following the sad loss of friends, collegaues and loved ones, they were given the opportunity to donate the value of this gift to Heartburn Cancer UK and we are thrilled to have received a wonderful donation of over £900 to support our forthcoming projects and work towards changing the future for those diagnosed with oesophageal cancer.

We can't thank the team enough that, from adversity and sadness they have found a way to work towards making a difference and are very much looking forward to the partnership.
