Fundraising ideas

The first step in your fundraising journey is to decide what you would like to do.  Everybody has a skill, a hobby or even  just a desire to try something new which can be used to raise vital funds.  You will find a few suggestions below to get you started, but really the list is endless...whatever you decide to do please get in touch and we can provide printed information, T Shirts and enthusiastic support to help you on your way.

You can also download and print our fundraising hints and tips, a selection of posters which you may find useful or a sponsor form.  If there is anything else you need we will be pleased to help.

Something sporty

A man cycling

Perhaps you are a keen runner or cyclist.  Or maybe you have never run or cycled in your life but you would like a challenge?

On our events page we have a growing selection of challenges of this kind which you might like to get involved in.  However, you aren't restricted to these.  There are events all over the country you could choose to take part in on behalf of HCUK, runs of various distances, cycling events, inflatable and muddy challenges - choose one near to you and let us know!

Something adrenaline filled

Have you always fancied the thought of skydiving?  We partner with Go Skydive, experts in tandem jumps, who will help you every step of the way with a charity jump and even have a variety of heights to choose from - depending how much of an adrenaline junkie you are.

There are many more options for fundraising though Have you thought about a day with friends on a zipwire, or perhaps you are a keen climber or hiker and could set yourself or a group of friends a challenge?

Something crafty Handmade cards

If you are good at any type of art or craft then selling or even auctioning larger creations is a great way to raise funds and spread a little joy too.

Something tasty

Who can resist a slice of homemade cake?  Perhaps organise a bake sale at your place of work or sell tickets to an afternoon tea or a cheese and wine evening?

Something simple

Even something as simple as organising a dress-down day at your place of work and asking for a small donation will raise awareness and funds at the same time.  You never know whether sharing our message will make a difference to the life of a colleague or their loved ones.

Having a clear out?

eBay for charity logo

Perhaps you have some items to sell on eBay.  There are many good reasons to sell via the Heartburn Cancer eBay for charity page.  Not only are you are making a donation to a worthy cause but some items may even sell faster and at a premium price.  Added to this, if you donate 10% or more of the selling price to us the charity ribbon will appear on your listing. You will also benefit from reduced seller fees and enjoy tax savings.  For more information visit ebay for charity.

Fundraising in celebration

Whether you are celebrating a birthday, a wedding, an anniversary or any other event, asking guests to donate a small amount to charity as part of your celebrations can be a fantastic way to raise money and can even be a way of showing support to a loved one who may be suffering or paying tribute to a family member who can't be present or may have sadly passed away.  Something as simple as a printed card in a wedding favour or in an event invitation asking guests to text donate could have a big impact.  It's also really quick and easy to set up a birthday fundraiser on a facebook page which can reach lots of people with funds being sent directly to us.

A once-in-a-lifetime experience

We are a partner of award winning holiday company Discover Adventure, who organise numerous group trips doing everything from climbing Snowdon at night, the Yorkshire Three-Peaks, multi day cycle trips in Europe, and treks to Machu Picchu or Kilimanjaro - there is something for every kind of adventurer so why not consider raising some money at the same time as having an experience that you will never forget.

Ask your employer

Many employers offer matched funding for charity donations raised by staff, some will have an application process for nominating a company charity of the year which can a great opportunity to get more people involved and increase awareness as well as raise much needed funds.  Even something as simple as asking permission to put a poster about your challenge or event in the coffee room spreads the word!

Whatever you do remember that everything you give makes a difference and allows us to work towards changing the future.  We couldn't do it without you.
