Heartburn Cancer UK work to raise awareness of the early symptoms of oesophageal cancer and of an associated condition called Barrett's Oesophagus. With the funds we raise they can work towards improving rates of early diagnosis, giving a better prognosis for sufferers and saving lives. Thank you very much for your support.

In memory of my funny, loving, protective, larger than life brother who lost his battle with oesophageal cancer in September 2019 I am doing a 12 hour  sponsored silence to raise awareness  of this silent cancer. It is silent because it so very often has no real symptoms until it is potentially too late. Common symptoms are heartburn and indigestion which most people put down to the foods that they’ve eaten and often that is the case but if it persists (longer than three weeks) I urge you to contact your gp for tests.

Everyone who knows me or has even just spent 5 minutes with me knows how much of a challenge keeping silent for 12 hours will be for me and I’m not going to be sitting at home making it easier for myself either. I shall be doing this with my good friend Gail who is raising money for myeloma and we will be going on a long walk which we do often but usually barely catch a breath as we use our walks as therapy.  Depending on where we are with restrictions on the day we also plan to go out for lunch and probably do some shopping amongst other things to ensure we test ourselves as much as we can.

Thank you again for all of your support xxx
