A statement released by the US Food and Drug Administration states that some drugs with the brand name Zantac may be contaminated. The risk of this is extremely low and there is no formal policy in place. The recommendation of the FDA is that patients report any problems if they occur, but that this is very unlikely.

Professor Lawrence Lovat of UCLH, says “Patients should continue to take their medicines but if they want to change they should discuss with their doctor whether there are suitable alternatives. For now, however, no recommendation is being made for people to discontinue any medicine that they are currently taking”
